Susan has been studying art, drawing and painting for decades; while also working in
non-profit organizaitons in Texas, New York City, Boston and San Francisco. She creates artwork in a variety of media.
The natural interplay of light with color, form and texture are what intrigue Susan and inspire her painting.
She says that "painting suspends time - life slows down and a sense of wonder and appreciation arises in seeing the beauty that surrounds us. That is my joy in painting."
Susan relies on the collaboration and support of several communities of artists in California and Spain.
She is also grateful to her husband, Leland, whose digital photography, computer expertise and encouragement are critical to her artwork.

Susan began her formal art training in Texas with painter and sculptor Don Ray while she was working as an art therapist
at a children's psychiatric hospital. In New York City, she studied at Parsons School of Design and The National Arts Club; and in Boston she took drawing and
painting classes at The Museum of Fine Arts. In California, her neighbor, artist and instructor Priscilla Klass, has been an on-going mentor.
In Spain, Sevillana art professor, Reyes Moreno, and painter Dr. Serge Triay, have been important guides and instuctors. Susan has taken workshops with Jane Burnham,
Stephen Quiller, Jan Hart, Catherine Anderson, James Kosvanec, Jann Pollard, Kathy Sharpe, Paul Kratter and Jennifer Almodova.
Susan is currently working on expressing both what she feels as well as what she sees in her artwork. She especially enjoys plein air (outdoor)
painting and has an extensive repertoire of landscapes, florals, travel sketches, seasonal images and Spanish themed paintings as well as Half Moon Bay
pumpkins, land and seascapes. She shows her original paintings and prints at exhibits sponsored by local galleries and art associations.
